MCT Shipping Service was founded on April 18, 1991 as an agent for several lines of the Baltic Sea Shipping Company. In a short time, MCT Shipping significantly expanded its portfolio, becoming the Russian agent for prestigious shipping lines such as Contship Containerlines, Neptune Orient Lines Ltd, American President Line, and others. During this formative period, the company developed comprehensive logistics services, including sea, rail, road, and air transportation between Europe and Asia, complemented by last mile delivery solutions. Strategically important offices were opened in Moscow and abroad to better serve the growing customer base, and they continue to function today

This period was marked by MCT’s aggressive diversification strategy. The late 1990s were characterized by significant development of road transportation services, which led to the creation of a specialized subsidiary, Skanditrans. MST also launched specialized services for handling project cargo and sea ferry transportation, particularly Ro-Ro cargo. Responding to the growing export market for metals and commodities, the company opened new offices in Vladivostok (2004) and Yekaterinburg (2006, operated for 8 years). New export and import destinations also emerged: India, Egypt, the eastern Mediterranean, and others. During this period, the MCT group of companies continued to strengthen its agency portfolio, becoming a partner of Maruba S.A., Pacific International Line, and SCF St. Petersburg Line.

MCT expanded its freight forwarding capabilities by creating a customs brokerage department (2013) and its own trading house “Gutuyevsky” to provide comprehensive foreign trade services (2014). Growing imports from China and the need for direct representation led to the opening of an office in Shanghai in 2011, which significantly increased the volume of business for consolidated cargo delivery from Asia — a service that remains MCT’s signature offering today. MCT also actively developed its business of multimodal and road transportation for the delivery of consolidated and general cargo from Europe, as well as the transportation of specialized and oversized cargo. In 2020, the company became an agent for Emirates Shipping Line in the Far East, further expanding its global service network.

Responding to market changes, MCT is actively developing new destinations and lines of business. The company is successfully expanding direct road transportation from Turkey to Russia, providing a full range of services: from turnkey foreign economic activity support to customs clearance. At the same time, the company is developing the import of consolidated cargo (LCL) by direct rail transportation from China. In recent years, MCT has strengthened its foreign economic ties, becoming a member of the international freight forwarders association JCTrans and a participant in the OLO Family e-commerce platform. In 2026, MCT Shipping Service will celebrate its 35th anniversary, continuing to follow the main principles of its work: experience, stability, honesty, reliability, reputation, dedication to the business and to clients.
